Words & Photos by Brian Samuels
Sourcing local, sustainable, and seasonal ingredients outside Boston proper is not as easy as one would think. Though food is grown and produced in their backyards, chefs outside the urban center have to work harder to produce it—farms often deliver within the city limits, not always outside of them. From Salem to Needham and everywhere in between, there’s a whole culinary world where chefs are committed to dishing out the applause-worthy meals with ingredients they’ve either grown themselves or bought directly from local sources. Here are six chefs who not only want to produce fantastic food, but who want to support their communities at the same time.
